…turned 65 and needless to say, every TV channel went crazy. Check out CNN-IBN’s attempt at “Deconstructing Amitabh Bachchan” here. And to hear the Big B explain why he has the right to be called a farmer, go here. [pic: CNN-IBN]

My love for Amitabh Bachchan is significant. When I was travelling in the Middle East in 2000, it was with a good friend of mine called Amit. Anytime he would share his name with shop-owners, guides, bus-drivers, etc., invariably they would respond enthusiastically, “Just like Amitabh Bachchan!” When he then explained that, yes, this is whom we was named after, invariably prices dropped and tea was offered. So let me salute Amitabh Bachchan for saving me a lot of money, and making me fast friends on that holiday 😉
Jonathan – that’s a wonderful story! I was googling around after reading your comment and came across a report on MTV Networks targeting “Middle East” youth with bollywood flicks and songs. About time, eh?
